I. Understanding of the Core Products of Color Stone Tiles (Different from traditional descriptions, focusing on practical industry understanding)
1. Core Product Positioning
Colored stone tiles are officially known as colored stone metal tiles. They belong to mid-to-high-end roofing materials. Their core positioning is "decorative function + protective function + long-lasting durability", with the main features being "lightweight and reduced load, maintenance-free, and high adaptability". They are suitable for all scenarios of roofing needs ranging from residential buildings to commercial public facilities. They are particularly suitable for projects that have high requirements for roof aesthetics and durability, and also value construction efficiency (such as villas, cultural tourism projects, and roof renovation projects).
2. Core Material Analysis (Highlighting Key Selection Points in the Industry)
The quality of colored stone tiles mainly depends on three core materials, which are the key factors for distinguishing high-quality and low-quality products in the industry, rather than solely relying on the number of structural layers.
- Base material: The mainstream material is aluminized zinc steel sheet (commonly used specifications are AZ150 and AZ180 in the industry), for high-end projects, an aluminum-zinc-magnesium alloy base material is adopted. Ordinary galvanized sheet (which is prone to rust and has a short lifespan) is prohibited. The thickness of the base material directly affects the strength of the roofing material. According to national standards, the minimum thickness is 0.4mm, and it is commonly used at 0.45-0.5mm in engineering projects. If it is too thin, it is prone to deformation and damage.
- Colored Sand: The core is natural basalt colored sand. It needs to undergo a high-temperature firing process of 1200°C to become porcelainized. The color is obtained through the coloring of natural minerals and it has strong weather resistance. Inferior products use low-temperature dyed sand, which is prone to fading and sand loss. This is a common quality issue in the industry.
Adhesive and protective layer: High-quality products use fluorinated modified acrylic resin or epoxy resin, which possess both high adhesion and weather resistance, and can firmly fix the colored sand and prevent it from falling off; inferior products use ordinary phenolic acrylic resin, and within 1-2 years, they will experience delamination and hollowing out, resulting in roof leakage.

Mainstream classification of lines (divided by application scenarios and product grades, which is more applicable in practice)
Unlike the conventional classification by type of tiles, the industry focuses more on dividing based on application scenarios, which is conducive to project selection:
Civil-grade colored stone tiles: Base material AZ150, colored sand particle size 0.8 - 1.0mm. Suitable for ordinary residences and new rural construction. Lifespan is about 30 years. High cost-effectiveness.
- Engineering-grade colored stone tiles: Base material AZ180-250, colored sand particle size 1.0-1.2mm, equipped with fluorocarbon protective layer. Suitable for commercial buildings, resorts, and cultural tourism projects. With a lifespan of over 50 years, they have stronger corrosion resistance and wind pressure resistance.
Special scene customized tiles: These include photovoltaic integrated colored stone tiles (suitable for distributed photovoltaic projects), antique-style colored stone tiles (suitable for ancient building renovations), and salt spray-resistant colored stone tiles (suitable for coastal areas). The materials and processes need to be customized according to the specific scene.
